INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE

To enjoy your new piece/s of furniture, we recommend you give it a full wax twice a year. In dryer months or under extreme conditions such as air conditioning, a fireplace or heater, and for pieces that are of high use, you may want to wax more frequently. Think of timber as your skin – if your skin gets dry you need to add moisture, and it is the same for timber furniture. If you allow timber to dry out it will start to look dull and lifeless. By applying wax you will enhance the natural beauty of the timber and will help reduce the amount of movement. Remember timber is a natural product and not man-made, so in turn, movement is a natural occurrence.

Avoid placing timber furniture in direct sunlight, especially under a glass window – as this will magnify sunlight and may cause damage to the timber.

Please remember the more kindness you show your furniture, the more time you will have to enjoy it.

For regular cleaning we recommend to simply wipe over your furniture with a damp cloth.

PLEASE NOTE: Gaps in timber furniture caused by movement are an inherent characteristic of such a natural product, and are not faults. Extreme conditions can cause even pieces hundreds of years old to split.

WAXING

Using a clean cloth and liquid wax, use a small amount of wax on your cloth and rub into furniture in a figure 8 motion against the grain of the timber.

When you have waxed all surfaces it is time to go back and buff off the excess with a dry clean cloth. Remember to buff off in the same direction as the grain. N.B. Only use clear wax on chairs.

DO NOT USE furniture sprays/polish which are silicone-based products, as they will dry out the timber.

Please remember – this is hand made furniture, and there are defined characteristics inherent in all pieces giving each piece its warmth and depth. If you are searching for more perfectly finished products or products with no movement, we suggest the need for you to look at machine-manufactured furniture, of which is mass produced.
